Job Description
Sifted is looking for a senior reporter to join our team of journalists covering the world of European startups and scaleups. This role will specifically focus on the French startup scene and be based in France.
We’re looking for somebody with a good understanding of the French startup ecosystem, a hunger for building contacts, getting scoops, asking great questions and going deep into the issues that matter. It’ll be your job to firmly plant the Sifted flag in France and make us the go-to publication for the startup and investor community there.
The successful candidate will be more than just another reporter in a newsroom: you will play a big role in developing a modern media company and your perspective on what we create across the business will be highly valued. You’ll also get to work closely and collaboratively with a friendly team of journalists with experience at outlets like the Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Politico, Dagens Industri, the BBC and Courier Magazine.

What will you be doing?
You'll be writing quick turnaround news stories and longer analytical pieces, hunting down scoops and landing interviews with key people involved with startups in France. You’ll star in our weekly podcast, and moderate online and in-person panel discussions hosted by Sifted.
Requirements
What skills do you need?
We’re looking for someone who has at least three years’ experience in journalism. We want someone with strong English, original (and plentiful) ideas and the ability to write clean and characterful copy. You need to be confident hosting panels, attending networking events and growing your brand and following on social media.
Ideally, you will also be comfortable writing in a variety of formats, from news to features to data stories. A good set of contacts in the French tech scene is a bonus!

Location
France (preferably Paris). The Sifted HQ is in London but half of our reporters are based in continental Europe.
Timeframe
We assess CVs on a rolling basis - you will always hear from us regardless.
