Job Description
Core Biogenesis leverages plant biotechnology for the production and commercialization of high-performance recombinant proteins used in therapeutic and food applications, from cell therapy to cellular agriculture.
Core Biogenesis is a rapidly scaling biotechnology startup, based in Paris and Strasbourg, France. Founded in 2020 by Chouaïb Meziadi and Alexandre Reeber, it is backed by some of the best European investors including XAnge and Blue Horizon Ventures.
We are seeking an independent and creative researcher with a level scientist 2/senior scientist to work at the intersection of Ramp;D and product development. The successful candidate will conduct and manage projects on stem cell biology, mainly focused but not limited to the areas of pluripotent stem cells, mesenchymal stem cells, differentiation, and immunology.
The main objective of the projects consists of assessing and optimizing the performance of plant-derived recombinant proteins for generating in vitro models, and applications of stem cell technologies.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with some of the most advanced techniques in stem cell biology, while building an experimental platform with multiple cell lineages and culture formats (2D and 3D).
Your results will be translated into products and solutions for scientists and industries around the world, working on the improvement of humanity through medicine and nutrition.
- Work collaboratively as a project lead to design and execute experiments that support research activities, project goals, and platform development.
- Culture of pluripotent stem cells from various species -including human- performing aseptic technique, and delivering a constant maintenance to ensure cells are kept with the appropriate stability and proliferation rates.
- Design and perform cell-based assays.
- Study and work with different cell culture platforms and conditions including adherent, suspension and hydrogel-embedded.
- Create and maintain stable cell lines, with the aim of developing an in-house cell bank for recombinant protein bioactivity testing purposes.
- Conduct advanced stem cell culture experiments including lineage differentiation and organoid formation.
- Perform critical data analysis and troubleshoot experiments.
- Write and maintain high quality experimental protocols.
- Stay up to date with scientific trends and publications to optimize experimental procedures and find new applications of the company's products.
- Be a proactive communicator and work closely with the product department to create marketing material in the form of technical bulletins and application notes.
- Present data during internal meetings and occasionally, give oral presentations or poster communications during conferences and exhibitions.
- Achieve exceptional productivity in a fast growing and evolving environment.
Requirements
- PhD in stem cell biology, developmental biology or similar degree with a focus on applications of stem cell technologies in the area of pluripotency.
- Hands on experience working with cell culture protocols involving cell differentiation, growing cells in 3D or organoid formation.
- Expertise on conducting cell viability and proliferation assays.
- Previous experience assessing growth-factors and cytokines bioactivity would be positively valued.
- Experience in basic cell and molecular biology techniques as RT-qPCR, ELISA, Westernblot, and Flow Cytometry is desirable.
- Familiarity with complex imaging tools including confocal microscopy and live cellimaging.
- Proven ability to conduct experiments independently and efficiently communicate results.
- Fluent spoken and written English and preferably working proficiency in French
