Most of these libraries are written in Python and include some sort of full-stack or Web technologies, and we are looking for a senior Python backend engineer who is comfortable contributing to these libraries and influencing the direction of their development, especially on the backend side.
About the Role
Roles at Hugging Face are very fluid and dynamic -- we are looking for someone who is comfortable taking on different challenges that will evolve over time. In the short term, the focus of this role is to help develop Gradio (www.gradio.dev), a Python framework that lets users build machine learning demos and other web apps, in just a few lines of Python. At this point, Gradio has been used to build ~500,000 ML demos in NLP/CV/speech/biomedical machine learning, including gt;2,000 demos currently up on Hugging Face Spaces. These demos have allowed machine learning to be accessible to a wide audience -- for the first time in history, anyone with an internet connection can use cutting-edge machine learning models right from their browser.
Gradio is becoming the standard way for developers to build web apps from scratch in Python, in the field of ML. We are looking for a senior backend Python developer who can work closely with the Gradio team to help develop the framework and make it suitable for building a diverse suite of data and web applications.
If you are a Python developer who has experience architecting complex projects or frameworks with Python, you are a good fit for this role. Experience in web development or building developer tools in Python is a big plus. This usually means 5+ years of experience in Python, but we consider every applicant on an individual basis.
