About CGIAR

CGIAR is a global research partnership for a food-secure future. CGIAR science is dedicated to reducing poverty, enhancing food and nutrition security, and improving natural resources and ecosystem services. Our research is carried out in close collaboration with hundreds of partners, including national and regional research institutes, civil society organizations, academia, development organizations, and the private sector.

It is a truly exciting time for us, as we undertake a transformation into a more integrated One CGIAR that will allow us to achieve greater impact with our research. One CGIAR is a dynamic reformulation of CGIAR’s partnerships, knowledge, assets, and global presence in key areas where innovation is needed to deliver on the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. It focuses on collaborating more closely in a way that enables us to deploy scientific innovations faster, on a larger scale, and at a reduced cost so that they can have a more significant impact where they are needed the most. The transition to One CGIAR will have profound implications on how CGIAR and its constituent parts are structured and operate: with unified governance, an integrated structure, a new research modality, and more pooled funding, One CGIAR will be better positioned to achieve its mission.

As we undertake this transformation, we remain committed to ensuring our workplaces are fair, safe, and inclusive. We seek to embrace diversity in all its dimensions and ensure that all our people are supported to reach their full potential. We know that diversity powers our innovation and that it drives the engagement and innovation needed for a world free of poverty, hunger and environmental degradation.

Please find more information about CGIAR at www.cgiar.org , about One CGIAR here and about how we are advancing gender, diversity and inclusion (GDI) in our global workplaces here.

Interim Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced gender, diversity and inclusion expert to continue the work of implementing CGIAR’s GDI Action Plan (2020-2021), in line with the vision laid out in our GDI Framework. The successful candidate, reporting to the Global Director, People and Culture, will also play a leading role in the creation of a new multi-year GDI Action plan (2022-2024).

We seek to fill this interim opportunity as soon as possible, as our current Senior Advisor has now transitioned to the role of Global Director, People and Culture. As interim CGIAR Senior Advisor, you will be ensuring the continuation of the exciting work underway in this area, while the process of recruiting for the full time role is underway. Your appointment to the interim role would not prevent you from applying for the full time role when advertised.

This 6-month interim position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic and evolving global People and Culture team, working to contribute to a world free of poverty, hunger, and environmental degradation.

Your key deliverables will include:

  • The continued implementation of GDI Action Plan activities, including:
  • the ongoing delivery of awareness and capacity building activities, online learning modules and inclusive leadership training, and support for inclusive recruitment, among other key plan actions;
  • the ongoing work to develop an inclusive cultural blueprint for One CGIAR;
  • GDI analytics, metrics setting and tracking;
  • the creation of GDI Guidance notes, tools and/or mechanisms in key People and Culture areas;
  • support to Employee-led Resource Groups, including FAIR (Forum Against Inequality and Racism); WIRES (Women in Research and Science) and Wellness@CGIAR;
  • Providing actionable insights and advice to CGIAR’s leadership and staff, in order to successfully embed diversity and inclusion in CGIAR’s workplaces;
  • Leading the process to collaboratively document the impact of CGIAR’s GDI Action Plan (2020-2021), and create a new multi-year GDI Action plan (2022-2024) and accountability mechanism;
  • Partnering with CGIAR’s Director for Ethics and Business Conduct to support safeguarding and a respectful One CGIAR culture across regions, centers, and offices;
  • Supporting the wider One CGIAR transition process by ensuring a diversity and inclusion lens is placed on our policies, systems and processes.
