Job Description

Searoutes is the upcoming standard for GHG emissions management in the logistics. We enable shippers to build and execute GHG reduction strategies. We are intimately convinced that reducing GHG emissions in the logistics is an operational problem, so we leverage modern algorithms to go beyond standard methodologies, and give shippers the visibility they deserve. In the last 12 months, we've deployed our APIs at 40+ companies and scaled to 500k+ calls per day.

We're backed by top advisors (Xeneta, DSV, ClearMetal, X-Up) and believe in product led growth. Our culture is deeply rooted in research and development, put to the service of one the greatest problems of our times. Searoutes is remote first, with most of our team based in Europe and Canada.

Requirements

We are looking for an ambitious software engineer to join our product team. You'll be a key member in building our core API products, focusing on our core algorithms and data pipelines helping to accelerate the digital transformation of supply chain amp; logistics companies around the world.

As an early engineer, you will define the architecture of our core systems, own products from data amp; algorithms, to UX and work closely with the founders to set the tone for the engineering culture. This role is particularly suited for engineers interested in building a data driven and research amp; development culture.

What you’ll do

  • Architect, build, test, and ship highly-available API services, with performance and scalability in mind.
  • Read academic papers, and communicate them with the team.
  • Use the right data structures and algorithms for the challenge at hand.
  • Cultivate best practices.

What you’ll need

  • 3+ years of experience writing software with a strong engineering background.
  • Proficient in OO programming, preferably in Java 11+.
  • Affinity for algorithmic. You know what complexity is, and can explain PageRank to non engineers.
  • Curious, not afraid to get out of your comfort zone to write elegant code.
  • Organized and self-sufficient, prior Startup or Quant experience preferred.

Bonus

  • You can explain the difference in complexity between various shortest path algorithms.
  • You have experience working with GIS, schedules and GTFS.
  • Experience architecting, implementing and iterating over APIs at scale.

Benefits

As part of our team, you will:

  • Have a chance to re-shape the future of climate in the logistics.
  • Get a stipend to set you up remotely and be empowered to deliver your best work.
  • Have a flat hierarchy, where you will have direct access to the founders and won’t be tied up in politics.
  • Have a high degree of learning and ownership in a dynamic environment.
  • Get the chance to join our team building events in the south of France.
