Job Description

Withings revolutionized connected health by launching the world's first Wi-Fi scale in 2009. Our award-winning ecosystem includes beautifully designed, easy to use connected devices for monitoring blood pressure, weight, activity, sleep, temperature, and more.

Now our devices are used for preventive health and weight-loss programs, telehealth and remote patient monitoring, and clinical studies. They are the key enabling technologies which support our partners’ strategies by accurately and reliably providing the data amp; metrics they need in order for their programs to be successful.

As part of the development of innovative products for biomedical applications and point of care testing, we are looking for a talented candidate for the synthesis of molecularly imprinted polymers and bio-inspired nanomaterials.

Please note that the first 6 months will be conducted at the University of Compiegne, France, in the prestigious Génie Enzymatique et Cellulaire (GEC) laboratory of Professor Karsten Haupt’s, with regular exchanges with Withings’ applied research department in Paris and the following 6 months will be conducted at Withings in Issy-les-Moulineaux, France (Paris area).


Missions :

  • Develop synthetic polymers that are specific to common molecular functional groups.
  • Develop binding protocols between polymers and nanoparticles.
  • Evaluate different formats of the nanoparticles (nanoparticles, thin films, ).
  • Label the polymers with appropriate fluorescent probes for optical detection.
  • Evaluate material characteristics and quality using analytical techniques.

Requirements

  • Applicants should hold a masters or a PhD in any of the following subjects : analytical chemistry / biochemistry / molecular chemistry / inorganic synthesis / polymer synthesis / nanotechnology for biological applications.
  • Experience in organic / inorganic synthesis of nanomaterials and characterization using methods such as NMR, HPLC.
  • Expertise in UV-Vis and fluorescence based binding assays.
  • Strong laboratory skills.
  • Familiar with click chemistry
  • Critical thinking and open-mindedness.
  • Rigor, autonomy and good organizational skills.
  • Must speak english and french
  • At the end of the mission, there will be a possibility to turn this position into a permanent position (CDI) at Withings as a bioengineer.
