Sorare is the new game for fans of football. Through tradable digital cards, Sorare is designing a collective fantasy football experience where you can manage your favorite players and hone your passion to earn prizes. Anyone, anywhere, can connect with the beautiful game on Sorare.
The company’s mission is to build the game within the game and to give fans, players and clubs the platform to celebrate, share and own their football passion.
Founded in 2018, Sorare was created by football fans for football fans. The platform had card sales volume of over $70M (50M) since January 2021 across 140 countries. Based in Paris, Sorare is funded by a world-class team including Benchmark, Accel Partners, e.ventures, footballers Gerard Piqué, Antoine Griezmann and Rio Ferdinand.
Job Description
As General Counsel, your main mission will be to ensure that our business activities and our products are duly framed not only to protect our IP and the IP of our partners, but also with regards to financial and gambling regulations. You will also play a crucial role in supporting our business development and partnership teams.
Responsibilities
As General Counsel at Sorare, you'll be responsible for:
- Building the legal team from the ground up
- Making sure all products and services comply with the legal framework in all the countries we operate
- Managing all the day to day legal affairs (IP strategy, HR law, commercial challenges, litigation, etc.)
- Managing corporate matters from boards, bspce plan to mamp;a
- Developing and managing the relationship with external advisors
- Developing processes to help our business development team and supporting them on deals
Requirements
- Prior experience as a General Counsel
- Paris bar and New York bar would be a plus (or another bar in the US)
- Strong knowledge of IP and contracts
- Ability to adapt and contextualize a complex legal framework to our operational needs
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English and another language (French, German, Italian, Spanish)
- Passionate about gaming, football and Sorare
- Team player, empathy, and problem-solving skills
- Experience in tech
- Desire to work in Paris full-time
