Job Description

OVERVIEW

Since its inception, Global Citizen has leveraged the power of artists, governments, corporations, philanthropists, and civil society to achieve one common goal: ending extreme poverty. In the last decade, Global Citizen has mobilized $48.4B USD towards this goal. Of this, over $22.6B USD has already been disbursed, impacting the lives of more than 880M people.

In 2021, Global Citizen will be undertaking a coordinated advocacy campaign around the Recovery Plan for World launched in late February. The campaign will seek to mobilize new resources to address the most urgent needs brought about by COVID-19 and to help the world recover better together.

This plan calls for global support and new commitments to:

  1. End the pandemic- and ensure equitable access to tests, treatment, and vaccines
  2. Stop the hunger crisis exacerbated by the pandemic
  3. Resume learning for all children
  4. Increase Climate Ambition and Cool the Planet
  5. Promote Equity and Justice for All

Financing for sustainable development is a cross-cutting theme of this year’s campaign.

Global Citizen will organize three tentpole moments to leverage new commitments:

  • Early May: Vax Live, focused on the global fight against COVID
  • September 25: Global Goal Live, focused on the 5 pillars with a specific emphasis on climate
  • October 29: G20, mobilizing commitments and celebrating success ahead of the G20 Summit and the COP.

As part of the campaign, Global Citizen aims at mobilizing major G20 members including those from Asia to secure new financial and policy commitments, build a network of trusted partners, and leverages campaigning and communications to encourage governments to step up.
