Your MissionWe are looking for a manager to take our talented team of EPMs to the next level! Working with a team of 3 Engineering Program Managers, you’ll be responsible for helping drive their careers, hone their skills and strategies, and participate in program management for punctual programs.
As a fundamental part of our delivery teams you will help serve our ever growing community, and you’ll report to a VP of Engineering.
At BlaBlaCar our Engineering Program Managers (EPM) coordinate, plan, track, and report on complex projects/programs with a common objective to help ensure we achieve our delivery goals. They have a transversal impact on various types of projects:- EPMs lead key compliance or technical programs (typically very large migrations or updates)- EPMs can support Product or Business leaders by coordinating the technical activities (e.g. new business line, reorganization of a division, new product feature or geography opening) on introduction of new features or in case of a company strategic move, impacting several engineering areas.Your responsibilities - Team Management (40%)
- Defining vision for the team and inspiring them to reach new heights through your expertise in the field
- Monitoring the mood of the team (quarterly assessment amp; eNPS rating)
- Continuously inspect and improve the methods/skills within the team
- Defining the training and development strategy (career paths) associated with each team member
- Prioritizing and managing workload of the team to ensure work/life balance and ensuring the most important programs get EPM support, recruitment as needed
- Leading good culture by example, bringing fun to the workplace
- Change management amp; programs (60%)
- Partnering with Engineering leads, Product Managers and Agile coaches to share insights, and help evolve the program management team and its function
- Communicating the team plans and achievements quarterly within BlaBlaCar, showing a culture of celebrating accomplishments and accountability of the team’s roadmap
- Improve processes to ensure engineering teams can work Better (increased efficiency), Faster (delivery), Stronger (quality)
- Influence and lead change throughout the organization
- Participate in program management on punctual / short-term missions such as reporting, risk analysis / mitigation, and delivery tracking
Your qualifications- You thrive on ambiguity and aren’t afraid to pivot and throw away what you just worked on to test a new hypothesis
- You have experience in project/technical program management for at least 5 years
- You have an experience as a manager for at least 2 years with proven people management and mentoring skills
- You have excellent experience in managing process development and optimization with agile methodologies and experience in using Jira or Confluence tools
- Experience in at scale organization building a distributed platform with teams located in several countries
- Strong written and verbal communication skills that bring people together and create a collaborative work environment
- You have excellent communication skills, you’re humble, and you enjoy sharing amp; learning from others
- You embrace change, are able to take a step back, prioritize, and focus on added-value tasks
- You have a results-driven and impact-oriented mindset
- Fluency in English
