The Position: Senior LLM Engineer

The Role:

As a Senior Large Language Model Engineer, you will lead the development and advancement of cutting-edge language models that push the boundaries of natural language processing (NLP) and artificial intelligence. Your expertise in building, fine-tuning, and optimizing large-scale language models will drive innovation and deliver state-of-the-art solutions to complex language-related challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, architecture, and implementation of large-scale language models solutions, leveraging the latest advancements in NLP, machine learning, and deep learning.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including researchers, data scientists, and machine learning engineers, to define project goals, prioritize tasks, and ensure successful model deployment.
  • Conduct in-depth research and experimentation to improve model performance, language understanding, and generation capabilities.
  • Optimize model efficiency and scalability to handle large-scale language datasets and real-world production environments.
  • Explore and integrate external linguistic resources and knowledge bases to enhance the skills of language models.
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in NLP, including new algorithms, tools, and frameworks, and apply them to enhance model capabilities.
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance, code reviews, and best practices to foster a culture of excellence within the team.
  • Evaluate model performance through rigorous testing and validation, ensuring high accuracy, reliability, and robustness.
  • Continuously monitor and improve model performance in production, addressing any issues or anomalies.

Requirements

  • A master's degree or Ph.D. in computer science, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, or a related field.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in designing, developing, and optimizing large-scale language models, such as transformer-based models.
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python and experience with deep learning libraries such as TensorFlow or PyTorch, with a preference for PyTorch
  • Strong understanding of NLP techniques, including word embeddings, attention mechanisms, sequence-to-sequence models, and transfer learning.
  • Experience with Vector databases for LLM augmentation.
  • Experience with the optimization of LLMs for efficient inference.
  • Proven track record of successful NLP research projects or large-scale language model deployments.
  • Deep knowledge of linguistics and syntactic structures to enable better language representation and understanding.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to tackle complex NLP challenges and optimize model performance.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to guide and collaborate with cross-functional teams effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to stay current with the latest research publications and trends in NLP and apply them to practical applications.
  • Prior experience in mentoring and guiding junior engineers is a plus.
  • Experience with the Azure cloud is a plus.
